2009 Desert of Florida Noble of the Year
Noble Cole is currently the 2009
Illustrious Potentate of Islam Temple No. 182 Inc. which was also selected as
Most Improved Temple in the State of Florida. Noble Ronnie Cole was selected as
the A.E.A.O.N.M.S. Inc. PHA Shriners 2009 Noble of the Year for the State of
Florida, and also elected as the Desert of Florida Assistant Rabban during the
organization’s Annual Gala Day celebration in Tampa, FL. Memorial Day weekend.
Noble Cole has traveled all over the Desert of Florida, as far as Key West, FL
on weekends supporting efforts to improve his organization. Known as Ron to his
friends, he is a retired U.S. Navy veteran and is extremely active in his
community due to his numerous Masonic affiliations as a 32º Scottish Rite Mason,
Asst. Deputy Grand Master M.W.U.G.L. of Florida, and Past Master of Hope Lodge
No. 19 F&AM PHA.
Since retiring from the Navy and making
Pensacola, FL. home in 1996, Noble Cole has worked for the Department of the
Navy (DON) training young men and women of the armed forces in support of the
global war on terrorism, as a civilian instructor at Naval Aviation Technical
Training Center (NATTC) Pensacola and currently at Cryptologic Technician
Maintenance Class “A” School (CTMA) Center for Information Dominance (CID) Corry
Station Pensacola, FL. On May 6, 2009 Ron became the first civilian chair-person
of the Annual CID Corry Station Cultural Diversity Festival which provides
cultural awareness training to over 1500 military and civilian members of his
command. He spends his spare time playing and coaching in the Warrington Elks
softball league for the past 15 years winning over 20 championships.
Illustrious Potentate Ron Cole is a
native of Texas, but has worked and volunteered in the Pensacola community since
his first Navy assignment here in 1977. He contributes his desire to help others
comes from his humble upbringing by his parents Johnny and Elsie (Big Mama)
Bradford of Fort Worth, Texas who were Foster Parents of over 130 special need
children and the unwavering support of his wife of 25 years Maria Shimizu Cole
of Guam Marianas Island whom he says never meets a stranger. Together they have
three children and six grand children. Ron and Maria have a very simple outlook
on life which is:
